Surgeon Training

Although no one knows the true figure, experts estimate that there may be as many as  3 million women living with fistula today.   Worldwide, we have the capacity to do roughly 3,000 operations per year.  Do the math.  This means that if there were never another fistula case, we already have a 1,000 year back-log.

If we are to increase capacity, one of the most critical needs is for more fistula surgeons.  WFF has pioneered fistula training using a one-on-one mentoring model and a standard curriculum.  In order to transport a surgeon to Niger, house, feed, and train them, the cost averages about $5,000.  Training one surgeon has the potential to change the lives of thousands of women.  Make a difference today...  Train a surgeon
