WFF Fistula Center Project Needs
Imagine starting a new
hospital
from scratch in the world's poorest country! WFF needs
additional funds to:
1. Upgrade the
CSL
operating room
to allow early phase fistula repairs to begin (approximately
$60,000).
2. Send
surgical and training teams to Niger on an
intermittent basis to begin fistula care as soon as the upgrade is
complete.
3. Build and
equip the new WFF Fistula Center
in Danja. The
construction costs will run just over $600,000, with an additional
$250,000 needed for equipment and supplies
.
4. Operate the
new hospital, providing free, life-changing care
for the poorest of the poor.
The cost of fistula surgery is estimated at $450 per patient for all
costs of care.
5. Design and
implement programs for the
social
reintegration and
rehabilitation of our patients.
6. Establish the
WFF Fistula Center as a site for an innovative
program of fistula prevention.
The cost
to implement a pilot program in fistula prevention are estimated at
$140,000.
7. Begin
clinical research to guide us in providing the safest, most
efficient and effective VVF care possible for our patients.
